Consultation, Design and Specification Services
Barbour Consulting Limited provides professional, consultation, design and specification services, within the commercial Mechanical and Electrical building services engineering environment.
We currently provide our services to Clients, Lead Consultants, Surveyors, Contractors, Building Services Managers and Developers within the remit of the specification and design of new build commercial projects and the refurbishment, maintenance and development of existing commercial premises.
Our standard hourly fee is £106.00 per hour chargeable in hourly increments with a minimum office based fee of £424.00 (Per discipline) – Ongoing alterations and amendments will attract a minimum fee of 4 hours (Per discipline). Our site visit minimum fee is £352.00 (Maximum 2 hours on-site) plus disbursements as applicable – mileage, travelling time plus incurred expenses will be charged as appropriate for journeys in excess of ½ hour.
Mileage £0.45 per mile – Travelling time £106.00 per hour (charged ½ hourly).
Longer term UK contracts attract our daily fee of £848.00 (Maximum 7 ½ hours on-site) plus disbursements (Subsistence, travelling, parking, congestion etc).
Overnight expense rate £260.00 – Applicable >75 miles travelling.
All quoted fees are subject to Vat as applicable and based upon 30-day payment terms.

We can propose suitably approved mechanical and electrical contractors to undertake such projects should the requirement be so, and are pleased to be associated with several National Federation of Builders (NFB) registered building contractors.
The consultancy includes professional members of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers and The British Institute of Facilities Management holding formal qualifications to national standards.
Barbour Consulting Limited additionally operates as an associate of Certsure LLP, and as such undertakes assessment and periodic surveillance audits of registered electrical contractors operating within the NICEIC schemes.
